Whether on purpose or by accident, many people and religious groups openly pronounce the name of the Creator. Many people are unaware that this is a violation of the biblical prohibition not to pronounce God's name in vain.

There are names of God that we use in prayer, songs of praise, and while learning holy scriptures. Most common are the names "Adonai" and "Elohim". These are acceptable to use in the proper times of prayer, learning, and songs of praise. But, to attempt to pronounce the biblical name of the Creator as it's found in the Hebrew scriptures is not allowed.

Anyone who does so is violating the words of the Sages of Israel and the Bible itself. Some people consider themselves wiser and do so to anyone, and others are unaware of their mistake. Either way, the Holy Name of the Creator should not be pronounced, until the Day of the Final Redemption, when purity will cleanse our spirits and the Holy Temple will be rebuilt.
