In this class we discuss the 515 prayers of Moses beseeching God to allow him to enter in to the Land of Israel. First we discuss the number 515 = תפלה, "prayer," as well as שירה, "song." From this we learn that the essence of prayer is song and the essence of song is prayer. Next, we explore why Moses stopped after 515 prayers when we are taught that God told him to stop but hinted to him that if he would pray one more prayer God would allow him to enter.
