Around the world, during the weeks leading up to and throughout the New Year and High Holiday period, Jews say the ancient words of David's powerful pslam (poem/prayer/song).

The words are a powerful guide to what it means to do the work of this season, called 'Teshuva' in Hebrew. Teshuva means to awaken to the infinite potential inside ourselves, and to grow towards manifesting it. In other words, it means to let something in us die, and to let ourselves be re-created anew, to start again, to re-define who we are.

May we all be inscribed in the Book of Life.

With love

Daniel

PS Thanks to Joel!

Here's the original...

27:1 A Psalm of David. the Infinite is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Infinite is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

27:2 When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

27:3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise up against me, even then will I be confident.

27:4 One thing have I asked of the Infinite, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Infinite all the days of my life, to behold the graciousness of the Infinite, and to visit early in His temple.

27:5 For He conceals me in His pavilion in the day of evil; He hideth me in the covert of His tent; He lift me up upon a rock.

27:6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; and I will offer in His tabernacle sacrifices with trumpet-sound; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Infinite.

27:7 Hear, O the Infinite, when I call with my voice, and be gracious unto me, and answer me.

27:8 In Your behalf my heart has said: 'Seek My face'; Your face, the Infinite, will I seek.

27:9 Hide not Your face far from me; put not Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

27:10 For though my father and my mother have forsaken me, the Infinite will gather me in.

27:11 Teach me Your way, O the Infinite; and lead me in an even path, because of them that lie in wait for me.

27:12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

27:13 If I had not believed to look upon the goodness of the Infinite in the land of the living!--

27:14 Hope to the Infinite; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, hope to the Infinite.
